While reports had Damon Lindelof coming in to write a new ending to the Marc Forster-directed Brad Pitt-starrer World War Z, it actually was his Lost compadre Drew Goddard who did the bulk of the writing of the finale. Lindelof, who reworked Prometheus and co-wrote the Star Trek sequel, cracked a potential new ending of the film, but Lindelof didn’t have time to do the scripting so that task fell to Goddard, who most recently adapted Robopocalypse, which is Steven Spielberg’s next film at DreamWorks.

It’s a little surreal,” he said of the attention the viral ad has brought him, “but it’s fun. This whole campaign was to be tongue-in-cheek and have fun and luckily, it’s hit its mark.
The ad focuses on the “normality” of Doug Pitt’s life (he runs a family computer business), as compared to his famous older brother’s, though it wasn’t shot in his actual home. He said he had no idea the ad would go viral, and that he hadn’t even told many people he did it — but gave his brother a heads-up.
I did call him and said, ‘Hey, what do you think?’ and he said, ‘Do it, sounds great!’” After the ad came out and Brad had a chance to check it out, he texted Doug: “Hey, just saw it — hilarious.” “I was pleased,” said Doug.

The hunky Hollywood star’s younger brother Doug recently made his celebrity endorsement debut in a video spot for Virgin Mobile, in which he flaunts his oh-so-ordinary life.
“This is Doug Pitt,” the voiceover begins as Doug fidgets awkwardly in front of his home. “The second most-famous Pitt in his family.”
The younger Pitt sibling then wipes his feet carefully on the welcome mat outside before inviting the camera crew into his house.
Doug admits that his wife and kids have full reign over the remote at his house.
Once inside, the businessman gives viewers the grand tour of his humble abode, including his living room, where he confesses that he doesn’t usually “get to pick what’s on the TV,” since his wife and kids overrule him.
Doug also shows off the house’s “man room,” where he tamely rocks out while listening to music on a set of oversized headphones.
Doug shows off how he listens to music in the ‘man room.’
“My family doesn’t have my appreciation for classic seventies rock,” he laments.
Doug shows off his cooking chops a bit while dicing vegetables for a lasagne he’s assembling in the kitchen.
“I consider myself to be a little bit of a gourmet,” he deadpans as he happily waves a knife around.
Doug’s pride and joy in his home office is his old black-and-white printer.
The younger Pitt even praises the virtues of his black-and-white printer, and boasted his love of sports, though he misses a basket while shooting the basketball just outside his home.

I have given much thought to Richard Stoecker’s letter (“Vote for Mormon against beliefs,” June 15). I am also a Christian and differ with the Mormon religion.

But I think any Christian should spend much time in prayer before refusing to vote for a family man with high morals, business experience, who is against abortion, and shares Christian conviction concerning homosexuality just because he is a Mormon.
Any Christian who does not vote or writes in a name is casting a vote for Romney’s opponent, Barack Hussein Obama — a man who sat in Jeremiah Wright’s church for years, did not hold a public ceremony to mark the National Day of Prayer, and is a liberal who supports the killing of unborn babies and same-sex marriage.

I hope all Christians give their vote prayerful consideration because voting is a sacred privilege and a serious responsibility.
Editor’s note: To clear up earlier confusion, the News-Leader has verified the letter writer is the mother of actor Brad Pitt and local businessman Doug Pitt.
Read more. The much discussed letter sent in to Springfield’s main newspaper NewsLeader by Jane Pitt, Brad’s mother. Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion, is what I say.

Screenwriter Damon Lindelof has been brought in to save Paramount’s zombie movie World War Z.
The big-budget movie starring Brad Pitt, who also is one of the producers, has been troubled. Its release has been pushed from December 2012 to June, 21 2013, and is awaiting significant reshoots. Lindelof, the Lost co-creator and co-author of Ridley Scott and Fox’s Prometheus, is said to be focusing on World War Z’s third act. The production hopes to begin reshoots in September or October.
World War Z, based on the 2006 novel by Max Brooks, is intended to be a zombie picture with sociological and political overtones. It also stars Mireille Enos (The Killing), James Badge Dale and Anthony Mackie.
Marc Forster is directing the movie, which shot last year in various European locales.

Staff at a London motorcycle dealership looked star struck when Brad Pitt walked in to their showroom today.
The actor popped into HGB Motorcycles in Ruislip and bought a Bell Helmet and Alpinestars Kevlar gloves before posing for pictures.
A source at the branch said: “We wondered what was going on when two big black cars pulled up outside and lots of burly bodyguards got out. We couldn’t believe it when Brad Pitt appeared and came in.”
The Hollywood star has a house in Surrey with his partner Angelina Jolie.

Brad Pitt has come onboard to produce Andrew Dominik’s long-gestating $20 million drama about Marilyn Monroe.
Based on the imaginary Monroe memoirs “Blonde” by Joyce Carol Oates, the story is said to look at the “imagined inner life of the iconic actress”.
Naomi Watts was previously attached to play Monroe when the project was setup at Wild Bunch, but the film is now a whole different incarnation.
Pitt tells 24 Frames that “We’re going to get this one done” and adds that it is uncertain right now if he will take a role in the movie as well. Shooting could begin as early as the start of next year.
Pitt and Dominik previously worked together on both “The Assassination of Jesse James” and the upcoming “Killing Them Softly”.

“The Counselor,” the first original screenplay by Cormac McCarthy, is set to begin shooting in just a few short weeks with Ridley Scott at the helm. The film follows the titular character (Michael Fassbender) who ventures into the world of drug dealing with deadly consequences, and it features a stellar cast including Javier Bardem, Cameron Diaz and Brad Pitt. In a conversation with Empire at Cannes, Pitt dished on his excitement about the project, saying,“I’ve read every word [McCarthy’s] published and most of them more than once. So this was a chance to do something of his and also work with Ridley again.”
Pitt plays the role of Westray, who helps Fassbender get ahold of a $20 million stash of cocaine. While Pitt cautions that his turn in the film will only amount to “doing a few days,” he’s more than capable of stealing the show. You don’t need much more proof of that than his big-screen debut as the hitchhiker in Scott’s “Thelma & Louise” or his turn as the stoner roommate of Christian Slater in the Quentin Tarantino-written and Tony Scott-directed “True Romance.”

The father-of-six – who recently said he and fiancee Angelina Jolie had been too busy to set a date for their wedding – has been in Cannes promoting his new film Killing Them Softly, but admitted he is ready to have a break from work.
Brad said: “It just doesn’t happen back to back to back. You need time off to refuel and to be inspired again. There’s no greater inspiration than family.”
He added: “Right now, I’m just attracted to being a dad. Film-wise, we get to do this thing and I feel very fortunate to get to do this. So I want to contribute to the art form. I think the films have to speak to our time and be authentic in their approach.”
The 48-year old actor – who runs production company Plan B, which produced Killing Them Softly – added that he is looking to spend more time behind the camera.
He said: “I’m focusing more on producing this year than getting in front of the camera.”
Brad added that he’s particularly excited about producing the next film from Shame director Steve McQueen.
